Historic Public UFO Hearings Are Upon Us As Pentagon Commits To Transparency

Written by Christopher Sharp - 10 May 2022

A historic Public Hearing relating to Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) is set to take place in the U.S. Congress next week following comments from one lawmaker, who claimed that the United States does not have control over its own airspace, following repeated intrusions into restricted military airspace by unknown apparent vehicles, which according to an official intelligence report ‘demonstrate advanced technology’.

The House Intelligence Committee’s Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation, Chaired by Democratic Congressman André Carson of Illinois, is set to hold the Hearing from 10 am (ET), 17 May.

Chairman Carson commented:

"The American people expect and deserve their leaders in government and intelligence to seriously evaluate and respond to any potential national security risks – especially those we do not fully understand.

"Since coming to Congress, I've been focused on the issue of unidentified aerial phenomena as both a national security threat and an interest of great importance to the American public. And I'm pleased to chair the first open Intelligence Committee hearing on these events. It will give the American people an opportunity to learn what there is to know about incidents. And I look forward to hearing from our witnesses on this critical matter.”

Representative Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House Permanent Selected Committee on Intelligence commented:

“There's still much to learn about unidentified aerial phenomena and the potential risks they may pose to our national security. But one thing is sure – the American people deserve full transparency, and the federal government and Intelligence Community have a critical role to play in contextualizing and analyzing reports of UAPs.”

He added:

“The purpose of this hearing is to give the public an opportunity to hear directly from subject matter experts and leaders in the Intelligence Community on one of the greatest mysteries of our time, and to break the cycle of excessive secrecy and speculation with truth and transparency. I'm grateful to Congressman Carson for his continued leadership, and push for transparency, on this important issue.”

Witnesses will include Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, Ronald S. Moultrie Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence, Scott W. Bray.

Bray was responsible for approving a ‘Security Classification Guide’ on UAP, which kept an enormous amount of information secret regarding UAP, according to UFO activist, John Greenewald.

Meanwhile Moultrie heads up the Office that is home to the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group (or AOIMSG) whose mission was legislated by Congress and signed into law by President Joe Biden in December 2021.

Sources have suggested to Liberation Times that the Hearing will trigger a chain reaction of escalation throughout the U.S. government, which could lead to further changes and perhaps more testimony.

Lue Elizondo, former Director of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) that investigated UAP, has been engaging with Congressional committees since leaving the Pentagon in 2017, welcomed the news, stating:

"The time has come for the American People and our elected officials to have complete transparency into this topic, including any historical efforts and the results of those endeavors that the tax payer has funded. We should welcome anyone who can provide insight to provide that information to Congress without fear of reprisal or retribution.

“Today’s announcement of open congressional hearings on UAP is an important step. This is a vital, bipartisan issue, and it is encouraging to see Democrats and Republicans come together in support of more openness and transparency. Our nation has a complex history with this subject, and this first hearing should be followed by many more. I am hopeful that this is just the beginning, and my colleagues and I applaud the extraordinary action taken by the House Intelligence Committee.”

Meanwhile, Christopher Mellon, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence suggested one key question for the Subcommittee, commenting:

“One of the critical questions for the upcoming House UAP hearing is: ‘Do we have evidence of intelligently-controlled unknowns in orbit or in space?’”

Last week one Pentagon insider commented to Liberation Times that Congress was upset with the slow progress of AOIMSG, commenting:

“Congress is extremely upset with how unhurried DoD has been with regards to standing up and empowering AOIMSG. Senators and their staffers are wanting answers about what UAP are and where they are from.

“These same Senators have seen the classified videos of UAP displaying performance capabilities well beyond anything in our arsenal and they want answers.”

The U.S. Intelligence report, published by the Office Of The Director Of National Intelligence in June 2021 ruled out secret U.S. technology and pointed to a lack of data to indicate whether UAPs are “part of a foreign collection program or indicative of a major technological advancement by a potential adversary.”

The report concluded that ‘UAP clearly pose a safety of flight issue and may pose a challenge to U.S. national security.’

When asked to comment on the upcoming Public Hearing, Pentagon spokesperson, Susan Gough, stated:

“The Department is committed to being transparent with Congress and the American people on the subject of UAP.  We look forward to the upcoming opportunity to engage Congress to facilitate their oversight on this important matter.”

Following the Public Hearing on 17 May, the same Subcommittee chaired by Chairman Carson will hold a closed, classified hearing on the same topic.

Representative Tim Burchett, who claimed to POLITICO that the United States doesn’t have full control over its airspace, greeted the news of the Hearing positively, stating:

“A public hearing is long overdue, but it will be a waste of time if the Pentagon isn't forthcoming with its information. We've asked the Pentagon to fix a problem it created in the first place, and I predict these officials won't be nearly as transparent as they should be.”

One of the mission of AOIMSG, as legislated by Congress, includes engaging with allies and partners. Liberation Times asked for comment from the UK’s Ministry of Defense (MOD) and Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Defense, John Healey.

Healey’s team declined to comment and the MOD’s stance on the topic has not changed.
